Privacy Notice, published 26/09/2023 following the acquisition of Mercaris Corporation by Argus Media
Defined terms used in this Privacy Notice are set out in the Definitions section below.
Mercaris Corporation, (“Mercaris”) was acquired by Argus Media, Inc. in June 2023 and has thereby become part of the “Argus Group” (“we”, “us” or “our”). The Argus Group is made up of different legal entities, details of which can be found here. With this Privacy Notice and the Argus Privacy Policy, we would like to inform you about the scope and purposes of the Processing of your Personal Information by Mercaris and other Controllers within the Argus Group, and the rights you may have with regard to such Processing of your Personal Information.
To ensure that Personal Information is managed responsibly, the Argus Group employs a Data Protection Officer. You may have the right to raise a complaint in relation to our Processing of your Personal Information with the Supervisory Authority in your country of residence or the place in which you feel that your rights were infringed. The purpose of this Privacy Notice is to provide you with transparency in relation to the Personal Data Processing operations of Argus Group companies including Mercaris and to direct you to the Argus Privacy Policy which is designed to help you understand how we use and safeguard the Personal Information we hold about you, including information that may be collected from your online activity with us. This Privacy Notice is also to inform you about rights you may have in relation to our Processing of your Personal Information.
The Argus Group is an international group and in order to operate our business your Personal Information may be shared with other companies within the Argus Group and stored and Processed in any country where we have operations. Details of Argus Group companies may be found here.
Mercaris may share Personal Information with other Argus Group companies. In particular, Mercaris shares Personal Information with other Argus Group companies based on our legitimate interests, for administrative purposes, and to enable individuals working in different Argus Group companies to communicate and collaborate with one another, in order to provide a full Argus Group service to clients.
The Argus Group often administers its direct marketing efforts centrally at Argus Media Limited, Lacon House, 84 Theobald's Road, London, WC1X 8NL, UK and at the offices of other group companies both within and outside of the United States, UK and EEA. For such purpose, Mercaris may share your Personal Information with Argus Media Limited and other group companies. Where your Personal Information is transferred from Mercaris to Argus Group companies located outside the United Kingdom and European Economic Area (“EEA”) and who are not in Adequate Jurisdictions, such transfer is on the basis of Standard Contractual Clauses.
Mercaris and other Argus Group companies may also use your Personal Information in accordance with the Argus Privacy Policy to form a view on what products, services and offers we think you may want or need, or that may be of interest to you. We will usually process your Personal Information for marketing purposes on the basis that we have a legitimate interest to retain our existing clients and to attract new clients.
You can manage your marketing preferences with the Argus Group at any time by letting us know the industry sectors in which you are most interested in or by unsubscribing from marketing communications.
