Duties
The Economist is responsible for a wide range of data product development, writing and research as Mercaris continues to grow its coverage of new organic and non-GMO commodities and ingredients. A typical week might include:
New Products--The candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities to develop new data tools and areas of market research. This role will work with Mercaris’ Vice President of Economics to set project research goals, oversee development and provide project development feedback to Mercaris colleagues. Research will include conducting statistical analyses of selected IP food & fiber commodities, and turning raw data into actionable products and reports for our clients. The candidate must be familiar with standard data analysis methods and be able to apply these appropriately to a variety of food & feed commodities.
Qualifications
Candidate should have 3+ years experience in planning and executing economic research, risk management and/or analysis relevant to commodity markets, as well as familiarity with the demands of a start-up company. Candidate must have a Masters or equivalent experience in Economics, Agricultural Economics or Agribusiness.
