JULY PRICE TRENDS
 

Corn and soybeans have trended lower across the board for the month of July with adequate old crop supplies adding negative pressure.

  • Non-GMO feed-grade corn finished out the month at an average Midwest price around +.25/bu.
  • The National average for Organic feed-grade corn was down about .40/bu from last month.
  • Organic and Non-GMO soybean price info is limited due to limited trade activity.
  • Feed-grade organic wheat trended higher from last month, with the national price up about .20/bu.

ORGANIC AND NON-GMO IN THE NEWS

Non-GMO product use continues to grow

Data from the Natural Marketing Institute shows that the use of food labeled as Non-GMO rose to 59% of the U.S. population in 2014, which is up from 53% in 2013 and 37% in 2012. 55% of the surveyed participants said they would be less likely to buy a product if it contained bioengineered ingredients. U.S. and Switzerland form organic trade partnership

The USDA announced that the U.S. and Switzerland have formed a partnership that will recognize the two countries' organic programs as equivalent, which will streamline organic trade and market access between the two countries. See the link to the full article here
